A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR ID Labs) is seeking for a Research Officer to join us in our mission to be a leading centre of infectious diseases research. A*STAR ID Labs aims to develop a cohesive A*STAR response to drive and deliver translational infectious diseases research to better health and economic outcomes.

This position is within the Bacterial Pathogenesis Lab lead by Dr Stefan Oehlers and will work on an NMRC-funded project utilising the zebrafish model of Mycobacterium abscessus infection biology. Duties will include animal work.
- To understand strategies and mechanisms for host and pathogen interactions in Mycobacterium abscessus infections to guide the development of targeted and effective control and treatment strategies
- Plan, schedule, and co-ordinate multiple research projects concurrently
- Engage in planning experiments with supervisors to develop new research ideas
- Analyse, interpret, and present scientific results
- Laboratory administration including logistics, assigning duty rosters, and equipment

**Job Requirements**:

- Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Infectious Diseases, Immunology or related field as above
- Possess relevant laboratory experience or applicant with relevant final year project experience can be considered
- Experience with zebrafish model system, infection/immunity research, genetic model systems an added advantage
- Practical experience with microscopy, handling BSL-2 pathogens, histology and micromanipulation good to have
- Inventory and supply administration experience
- Demonstrated track record of seeking challenge
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Willingness to challenge established paradigms
- Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills
- Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to make those around them better
- Good spoken and written communication skills
