Description Research Officer, Biotransformation and Engineering (SIFBI) Join to apply for the Research Officer, Biotransformation and Engineering (SIFBI) role at A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research . We are seeking a candidate for the position of Research Officer in the Division of Biotransformation and Engineering at the Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation, A*STAR. Our R&D focuses on fermentation and enzymatic transformation to produce future food ingredients such as microbial proteins, lipids, and bioactives, as well as personal care products. Key activities include bioprocess development, including fermentation from 0.5 to 200 L scale, and downstream processing. Job Description Conduct experiments involving enzyme-assisted pretreatment and transformation of food sidestreams for fermentation media formulation and microbial fermentation (fungi, yeast, microalgae) to produce functional food ingredients, bioactives, and personal care products. Analyze and report experimental findings regularly to the project team. Support maintenance of lab equipment and adhere to good laboratory practices. Comply with HSEP (health, safety, and environmental protection) regulations and Singapore laws. Job Requirements Hands-on experience in microbial fermentation, enzymatic reactions, and downstream processing. Strong practical laboratory skills and report writing abilities, experience with routine analytical systems (e.g., HPLC, multi-plate reader, enzyme assays). Highly motivated team player with good communication skills. Ability to work independently and demonstrate passion for scientific research. Educational Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioengineering, Biosciences, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
