Job Role: Principles of Accounts Teaching Assistant
Location: Pantheon Education Centre
Position Overview:
As a Principles of Accounts Teaching Assistant, you will support the instructor in delivering effective instruction and facilitating learning experiences for students enrolled in principles of accounts courses. This role requires a strong understanding of basic accounting concepts, excellent communication skills, and the ability to assist students in comprehending course material.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Collaborate with the instructor to prepare lesson plans, presentations, and teaching materials for principles of accounts classes.
2. Assist in conducting classroom activities, including lectures, discussions, and hands-on exercises, to enhance student understanding of accounting principles.
3. Provide individualized support to students during class sessions, addressing questions, clarifying concepts, and offering guidance on assignments.
4. Grade assignments, quizzes, tests, and other assessments in accordance with established criteria, providing timely feedback to students.
5. Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools, such as rubrics and grading schemes, to evaluate student performance.
6. Hold regular office hours or tutoring sessions to provide additional assistance to students outside of class time, helping them with homework, exam preparation, and other academic needs.
7. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by encouraging student participation, promoting respect for diverse perspectives, and facilitating peer collaboration.
8. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, grades, and other relevant information, adhering to privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
9. Assist in the setup and maintenance of instructional technology, such as learning management systems or multimedia resources, to support course delivery.
10. Collaborate with colleagues and instructional support staff to exchange ideas, share best practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching methods and curriculum.
11. Stay informed about developments in the field of accounting education, attending workshops, conferences, or professional development activities as appropriate.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the instructor or department, including administrative tasks, student recruitment activities, and program assessment initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Completed GCE O Levels in POA or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required
- Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles and practices, with coursework or experience in financial accounting, managerial accounting, and related areas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students effectively in both individual and group settings.
- Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or instructional support roles preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Commitment to promoting student success, fostering a supportive learning environment, and upholding academic integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.

**Salary**: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 - 12 per week
