Power Trader

Do you want to take part in shaping, developing and growing a newly established Japan power trading desk as part of a global energy trading company? Then you might be just who we’re looking for to join our APAC Power Trading team in Singapore.

**Here’s what the job entails**

In the role, your primary function will be to generate proprietary P&L based on exchange-traded Japan power contracts and by working within the given VaR limits, you´ll make decisions to mitigate risk and optimise risk-reward.

Concretely, your areas of responsibility will include the following:

- take P&L responsibility for existing and new developing business in proprietary trading (focus on the exchange traded Japan power market) within the framework of assigned risk mandates
- develop and implement profitable trading strategies
- drive portfolio management and optimisation activities within the company by providing market insights through active collaboration
- play an active role in supporting other traders

You will join our skilled APAC power trading team located in Singapore and be part of a global energy trading company, backed by international energy major Equinor.

In the role, you will develop, execute and systematise trading strategies in collaboration with a dedicated market analyst.

As you will be working with power trading in the Japanese market, we imagine that you bring solid experience from a similar position, and you thrive on working in a dynamic and ever-changing environment. We are also looking for someone who has:

- proven experience as an energy derivative trader, with a strong track record in energy markets
- proven PnL track of prop trading preferred, but experience at a generator is also favourable
- proven experience of trading via brokers with efficient communication
- a relevant degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics or other quantitative disciplines
- some programming experience (Python, R, SQL or similar)
- eligibility to work in Singapore and is fluent in English and preferably also Japanese
