**Senior Underwriter, Credit Political & Financial Risk Underwriter
The **_Senior Underwriter _**will report to the Head of Financial & Political Risk. The role involves
- Analysing & underwriting potential transactions in the areas of Trade Credit, Structured Commodity Finance, Asset Finance, Sovereign Risk and Project Finance.
- Developing Sompo International’s business franchise in Asia in conjunction with Sompo Japan.
- Participating in the decision process as to which transactions are accepted.
- Working with Group Risk Management, Actuarial & Claims functions as required.
- Assisting in debt workout and recovery operations.
- Portfolio Management.
- Involvement in risk strategy as part of the business planning process.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Develop, source, structure, assess and underwrite credit and political risk insurance transactions with both brokers and Insureds.
- Work with the Credit Risk Analyst team on risk assessments
- Review and assess transaction documentation, policy wordings
- Ensure the business handled meets Sompo’s compliance & legal requirements
- Working directly with clients on the management of in force transactions
- Liaising with other staff within the company, such as ERM / Actuarial so that the company can assess and price risk appropriately.
- Staying informed about appropriate legal, compliance and market risk related issues.

**Skills, Qualifications and Experience**:

- Analyzing financial information, such as FS statements, management accounts and cash flow statements, financial models,
- Ability to understand and assess all forms of debt / trade finance instruments, structured transactions (Project Finance, Structured Trade, Asset Finance), loan agreements,
- Strong knowledge of transaction documentation and legal environment,
- Ability to work in a close team work environment,
- 5 + Years experience in a similar role within either a Credit Insurer or Lending institution,
- Strong background in Finance & Economics
- Good communication skills (written/oral) and an ability to deal with personnel at all levels.
