Job Description & Responsibilities
- Hands-on experience in configuring routers and switches (e.g., Cisco and Alcatel), firewalls (Palo Alto and Check Point), and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Administration, support, and maintenance of campus-wide network infrastructure, including but not limited to:Cisco and Alcatel switches Palo Alto, Check Point, Cisco, and Juniper firewalls Cisco lightweight access points Wireless controllers and devices (Cisco and/or Alcatel/Aruba) Aruba ClearPass (CPPM) – Network Access Control Appliance F5 Load Balancer Structured cabling (UTP / Fiber)
- Ensure optimal network performance through continuous review and improvement.
- Recommend optimal or alternative solutions to enhance network performance and security.
- Monitor and maintain network service availability.
- Accountable for day-to-day network operations.
- Perform network fine-tuning, problem troubleshooting, and analysis of network statistics and traffic patterns.
- Configure firewall rules and security settings.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including SOPs and technical procedures.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Manage requests, deployments, incidents, and escalations, ensuring timely updates and closure.
- Keep relevant stakeholders informed on the status of ongoing tasks and incidents.
- Maintain and upgrade firmware and OS on network devices.
- Configure and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches.
- Implement and manage core firewalls and Network Access Control (NAC) appliances.
- Update network documentation and diagrams to reflect any changes.
- Provide support for structured cabling, network technologies, and solutions using Cisco, Juniper, and Alcatel equipment.
- Collaborate with the Service Desk and On-Site Support Teams to provide network support.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in IT, Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Minimum 5–6 years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer.
- Industry-standard certification, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Windows applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, FTP, TFTP, etc.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with LAN/WAN technologies.
- Strong understanding of Layer 2 & Layer 3 technologies, including VLANs and HSRP, with experience on Alcatel and Cisco switches.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Customer-oriented with the ability to manage challenging situations and a drive to improve customer experience.
- Practical experience in administration and troubleshooting of firewalls (Palo Alto and Check Point) and F5 Load Balancer.
- Previous working experience in an SOE (Standard Operating Environment) environment is preferred.
- Experience managing and administering Aruba ClearPass is a plus.
