About Shin Katsu Restaurant

Join our passionate team at Shin Katsu Restaurant , a dedicated Tonkatsu restaurant in the heart of Tanjong Pagar. We are committed to serving perfectly cooked, authentic Tonkatsu with exceptional taste, texture, and presentation. We are looking for a skilled Assistant Chef to support our Head Chef in preparing Tonkatsu and other Japanese dishes, while ensuring smooth kitchen operations and high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Assist the Head Chef in preparing Tonkatsu and other Japanese dishes.
  • Master the techniques of breading, frying, and presenting Tonkatsu to perfection.
  • Ensure every dish meets Shin Katsu's standards for taste, portion, and presentation.

Kitchen Operations & Hygiene

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen at all times.
  • Manage inventory and inspect ingredient deliveries for freshness.
  • Train and guide junior kitchen staff as needed.
  • Follow kitchen safety procedures and handle equipment properly.

Menu & Quality Control

  • Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and portioning of Tonkatsu dishes.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef on new menu items and seasonal specials.
  • Monitor customer feedback and suggest improvements to maintain excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of cooking experience, preferably in Japanese cuisine or Tonkatsu-focused kitchens.
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese ingredients, frying techniques, and plating.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen and as part of a team.
  • Food safety certification is an advantage.
  • Professionalism, good communication, and good manners in the workplace.
  • Non-smokers preferred.
