Team overview
The Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) is an independent, private-sector-led initiative focused on mobilising capital and removing barriers to investment in the global transition. GFANZ brings together financial sector firms that recognise the opportunity created by the transition – including banks, insurers, asset owners, asset managers, and service providers. It helps drive transition finance and unlock private capital at scale through support for capacity building and the development of innovative financing opportunities and solutions.
A Principals Group composed of CEOs from major firms approves the strategic direction of GFANZ, which is globally active through its Regional Networks in Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America & Caribbean, as well as Chapters in Brazil, the Caribbean, Japan, and Hong Kong.
In June 2022, the GFANZ Asia Pacific (APAC) Network was established to drive the expansion of net zero finance in the Asia-Pacific and help accelerate the region's transition to a net-zero economy.
The GFANZ APAC Network Central Office is located in Singapore and is supported and hosted by SGX Group.
Full-time Contract Opportunity in the GFANZ APAC Network Central Office
We are excited to offer a position for a talented candidate to join the GFANZ APAC Network Central Office on a full-time contract basis till June 2027, with a potential to renew. Reporting to the Managing Director of GFANZ APAC Network, the role will be dynamic and multi-faceted.
This opportunity combines the agility and personal impact of a start-up environment, with the prominence and stability of working alongside some of the largest financial institutions in the region.
Strategy Development: Formulate and implement GFANZ APAC's public policy and country engagement strategy and action plans for Southeast Asia.
Public Sector Engagement: Develop initiatives and platforms to raise awareness and foster deeper understanding of how private capital can support countries in achieving their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and advancing the net-zero transition.
Capacity Building: Design and deliver training programmes for public sector officials, financial institutions, and real-economy corporations to strengthen capabilities in transition planning, transition finance, and blended finance.
Regional Initiatives: Design, support, and contribute to public and private initiatives across the APAC region that catalyze capital mobilisation for the net-zero transition.
Stakeholder Management: Build and manage strong relationships with senior public sector officials and financial institutions in Southeast Asia.
Regional Platforms and Events: Support the operation of the GFANZ APAC Advisory Board and lead the organisation of the annual APAC Summit, a flagship event convening regional and global stakeholders.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues in the APAC Network and the global GFANZ Secretariat to ensure alignment, visibility of APAC's work, and mobilisation of global support.
Team Development: Supervise and mentor junior staff and interns, fostering their growth and enabling them to deliver high-quality outcomes.
The successful candidate will ideally:
• Possess minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a financial institution, government affairs, or management consulting.
• Hold a degree in International Relations, Political Science, Law, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of sustainability and climate finance trends in the region, with familiarity in financial regulations and frameworks such as the ASEAN Taxonomy, TCFD, ICMA.
• Have a strong network among regional policymakers and regulators, with a proven ability to engage senior stakeholders and build consensus on complex issues.
• Bring strong skills in advocacy, project management, and event organisation for senior officials or executives.
• Be an excellent communicator (written and verbal), with strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to "roll up your sleeves."
• Show initiative, commercial acumen, and the ability to think laterally and connect the dots.
• Be a collaborative team player with experience working across Asia; proficiency in an Asian language is preferred but not essential.
