Job description:

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated construction lawyer with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience to join our RWS 2.0 Legal Team, part of the Legal Department at Resorts World Sentosa.

This role supports the legal needs of the Project Management and Facilities Management teams, including Resorts World Sentosa's S$6.8 billion RWS 2.0 expansion plans. You will advise on construction, real estate development, commercial, and infrastructure-related legal matters.

You will play a key role in reviewing and finalizing contracts, providing dispute resolution advice, and supporting business units across construction, infrastructure, and facilities management functions

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Negotiation and Legal Advice:

  • Draft, review and negotiate large-scale construction and supply contracts for Singapore based projects, including on the SIA, REDAS and in-house forms
  • Reviewing contract amendments for the abovementioned types of contract forms
  • Provide advice and recommendations on legal issues that arise during the lifecycle of a large-scale construction project

Risk Mitigation:

  • Identify key legal risks and provide strategic legal advice to mitigate these risks.
  • Handle high-value disputes with contractors, suppliers and vendors
  • Provide legal and drafting advice when reviewing payment claims and payment responses

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Closely collaborate with and support the Projects, Facilities Management and Project Contracts teams, including delivering practical and effective advice on contract interpretation and dispute resolution
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to align business objectives with legal requirements.
  • Facilitate Training Sessions

Legal Strategy:

  • Contribute to the development of legal strategies and process improvements.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in the law and regulatory changes that may impact Resorts World Sentosa.

Any other Matters:

  • Manage, liaise and instruct external solicitors for selected legal matters
  • Perform any other day-to-day business and legal affairs-related tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • A law degree (LLB or J.D.) from a recognised university and admission to the Singapore Bar.
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple time-sensitive matters effectively.
  • A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented lawyer, who is comfortable working independently and possesses a "can-do" attitude.
  • The ideal candidate should have experience and background in dispute resolution work with an emphasis in construction law transactions and disputes, including:
  • Familiarity with the SIA and the REDAS Conditions of Contract.
  • Familiarity with the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2004
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology used in construction contract forms and documents
