We are seeking a compassionate and experienced High School Counsellor to provide social and emotional support to students in Grades 9-12. This is a non-academic counselling role focused on helping students navigate adolescence, manage emotional challenges, and develop resilience and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate will be student-centered, culturally sensitive, and able to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling to support students' emotional and social wellbeing.
- Address issues such as anxiety, stress, identity, peer relationships, grief, and personal challenges.
- Collaborate with school staff to identify and support students experiencing emotional difficulties.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
- Develop and deliver wellbeing programs, workshops, and preventative education initiatives.
- Liaise with external mental health professionals when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and ethics.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certified or licensed counsellor or therapist (or equivalent qualification).
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience working with adolescents, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health, and trauma-informed practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in international or multicultural environments is a strong advantage.
