Who are we?
Howden is a collective – a group of talented and passionate people all around the world. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of insurance. We are united by a shared passion and no-limits mindset, and our strength lies in our ability to collaborate as a powerful international team comprised of 18,000 employees spanning over 100 countries.
People join Howden for many different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. It's what sets us apart, and the reason our employees have been turning down headhunters for years. Whatever your priorities – work / life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering – you'll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.
The Role
As a Business Assurance Associate (Consumer Duty), you will play a key role in delivering outcome-focused file audits across the business, ensuring adherence to Consumer Duty principles and regulatory requirements. Working closely with the Consumer Duty and Product Governance teams, you'll provide valuable insights and data to support continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
This role is central to promoting best practice, identifying areas of concern, and supporting resolution through collaboration with broking teams and senior stakeholders. You'll also contribute to reporting, incident tracking, and committee updates, helping to maintain high standards across the organisation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Conducting outcome-focused file reviews for Consumer Duty in-scope teams.
- Performing targeted audits related to Vulnerable Customers.
- Providing feedback and recommendations on areas of risk and improvement.
- Promoting best practice aligned with Consumer Duty principles.
- Tracking and monitoring remediation actions across broking teams.
- Preparing and presenting reports to senior management, highlighting risks and priorities.
- Responding to technical queries related to Consumer Duty and vulnerable customers.
- Supporting resolution of identified issues in collaboration with other teams.
- Maintaining up-to-date records and ensuring accurate incident reporting.
- Contributing to committee reporting packs and updates for broking teams.
Who We're Looking For
- Experience working in a compliance, audit, or monitoring environment.
- Strong understanding of FCA Consumer Duty regulations and vulnerable customer considerations.
- Commercial awareness within the insurance broking industry.
- Broad knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and insurance principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with good problem-solving and project management abilities.
- Consultative and collaborative approach to sharing best practices.
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence across teams.
Qualifications
- Educated to A-level standard.
- Cert CII qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
What do we offer in return?
A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we're looking for individuals who share the same values as us:
- Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new
- We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges
- We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond
Reasonable adjustments
We're committed to providing reasonable accommodations at Howden to ensure that our positions align well with your needs. Besides the usual adjustments such as software, IT, and office setups, we can also accommodate other changes such as flexible hours* or hybrid working*.
If you're excited by this role but have some doubts about whether it's the right fit for you, send us your application – if your profile fits the role's criteria, we will be in touch to assist in helping to get you set up with any reasonable adjustments you may require.
- Not all positions can accommodate changes to working hours or locations. Reach out to your Recruitment Partner if you want to know more.
