Site Engineer (Steel Structure) – Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  1. Site Supervision & Execution

  2. Supervise day-to-day site operations for steel structure works.

  3. Ensure construction activities (fabrication, erection, welding, bolting, alignment) are carried out according to drawings, method statements, and specifications.

  4. Coordinate with subcontractors, foremen, and workers to achieve project progress.

  5. Technical & Quality Control

  6. Read and interpret structural & shop drawings, identify discrepancies, and raise RFIs if needed.

  7. Inspect steel fabrication, welding quality, bolt tightening, and member alignment.

  8. Ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements, including NDT, torque tests, and dimensional checks.

  9. Safety & Compliance

  10. Enforce site safety procedures, particularly for lifting operations and working at height.

  11. Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure workers follow safety regulations.

  12. Report unsafe practices and take corrective action immediately.

  13. Coordination & Communication

  14. Work closely with Project Manager to meet project deadlines.

  15. Liaise with consultants, main contractor, and subcontractors for site issues and inspections.

  16. Prepare daily site progress reports, inspection checklists, and documentation.

  17. Material & Resource Management

  18. Check steel materials, welding consumables, and bolts delivered to site.

  19. Monitor storage, handling, and usage to prevent wastage and ensure quality.
  20. Assist in planning manpower, equipment, and crane/lifting arrangements.

Requirements

  • Diploma / Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Fresh Graduate are Welcome
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage site workers and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an advantage.
