About the Role

North Rock Capital seeking a highly skilled and entrepreneurial Equity Portfolio Manager based in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating alpha through fundamental research, active risk management, and disciplined portfolio construction. This role offers the opportunity to manage capital within a well-resourced, institutional framework alongside world-class investment and risk management professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Idea Generation & Research

  • Develop and execute differentiated investment strategies within the equities space.
  • Conduct deep fundamental research, including analysis of company financials, industry dynamics, competitive positioning, and valuation.
  • Leverage both proprietary and third-party data to inform investment decisions.

Portfolio Construction & Management

  • Build and manage a market-neutral equity portfolio aligned with platform risk guidelines.
  • Size positions appropriately based on conviction, liquidity, and risk-adjusted return potential.
  • Optimize portfolio construction with a focus on alpha generation, capital efficiency, and downside protection.

Risk Management

  • Adhere to the firm's disciplined risk framework and portfolio guidelines.
  • Actively monitor exposures, drawdowns, factor sensitivities, and stress tests.
  • Incorporate hedging strategies to protect portfolio performance across market environments.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with analysts and data scientists to identify and evaluate opportunities.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop junior talent where applicable.
  • Engage with firm leadership, risk, and capital allocation teams to ensure alignment with platform objectives.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record as a discretionary or quantitative equity Portfolio Manager or Senior Analyst with P&L responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate alpha in long/short equities within a risk-controlled environment.
  • Strong domain sector knowledge and fundamental analysis skills with the ability to integrate quantitative tools and alternative data.
  • Excellent risk management discipline and familiarity with factor/quantitative risk models.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently while leveraging platform resources.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required
