Job Scope:

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel generators and related electrical systems at customer sites. This hands-on role requires a strong technical foundation in both electrical and mechanical systems, with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and service quality. You will also support service documentation and provide technical feedback to the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  2. Perform regular preventive maintenance of diesel generators according to established service schedules.

  3. Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults in generator systems.

  4. Replace or repair faulty components such as alternators, control panels, wiring, and batteries.

  5. On-Site Service & Troubleshooting

  6. Conduct site inspections, testing, and fault rectification of generator sets and associated systems.

  7. Carry out cable terminations, load testing, and commissioning of generator sets.

  8. Respond to emergency service calls and support urgent breakdown repairs.

  9. Technical Documentation & Reporting

  10. Complete service reports, job sheets, and maintenance checklists accurately.

  11. Maintain service logs and update customer records as required.

  12. Safety & Compliance

  13. Ensure all service activities comply with company and site-specific safety standards.

  14. Use appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices at all times.

  15. Teamwork & Communication

  16. Coordinate with Service Coordinators and Engineers for job assignments and support.

  17. Collaborate with team members during complex service or installation jobs.

Requirements:

  • Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, and electrical circuits.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and use testing instruments (e.g., multimeter, clamp meter).
  • Physically fit and comfortable working on-site, including outdoors and in generator rooms.
  • Willing to work on a 24/7 rotational standby and respond to emergency call-outs when required.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a strong team-oriented mindset.
