Singapore Boncafe International Pte Ltd Full time $60,000 - $80,000 per year

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Roaster to manage the roasting operations at our coffee manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of coffee roasting techniques and a strong understanding of flavor profiles to produce consistently high-quality roasted coffee. This role is critical in maintaining our brand's commitment to excellence and innovation in coffee.

Job Responsibilities:

Raw Coffee Analysis

  1. Perform detailed evaluations of raw coffee samples and main contract deliveries, ensuring accurate documentation of all analyses.
  2. Conduct cupping sessions for all incoming samples and contract batches, recording sensory results and maintaining organized records.
  3. Develop expertise in identifying diverse coffee flavor profiles and actively participate in blind tasting exercises.
  4. Lead weekly cupping sessions for quality control and coffee assessment purposes.

Roasting Operations

  1. Manage daily roasting activities, including routine maintenance and cleaning of the PROBAT roasting machine, and execute local preventive maintenance tasks.
  2. Roast green coffee beans from various origins according to production schedules and specified roast profiles, ensuring accurate documentation of roast volumes, types, and blends.
  3. Operate and maintain proficiency with multiple roasting systems, including Probat Excelsior, Probat sample roaster, and air roasters, as well as any newly acquired equipment.
  4. Schedule and coordinate the roasting schedule to meet production demands.
  5. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of both green and roasted coffee beans.
  6. Uphold the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and hygiene within the green coffee silo and roasting areas.
  7. Ensure compliance with all relevant SOPs, ISO standards, AVA regulations, MUIS/Halal requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  8. Support the upgrading and optimization of coffee roasting equipment and related apparatus.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in coffee roasting, preferably in a manufacturing or specialty coffee environment.
  • Strong sensory skills and experience with cupping protocols.
  • Comfortable working in environment with heat, noise and coffee dust.
  • Adherence to company policies, procedures and workplace conduct standards.
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors and external partners.
