**About Us**:
Smitten Coffee Roasters is a local specialty coffee company. Started in 2011 we are committed to sourcing, roasting, and serving the highest quality coffees to best serve our clients. We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and detail-oriented **Head Coffee Roaster**to lead our roasting program and elevate our offerings.

**Position Overview**:
The Head Coffee Roaster is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the roasting operations — from green coffee management to production roasting, quality control, and product development. You will collaborate closely with the rest of the Smitten team and clients to deliver consistency and excellence in every batch.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Roasting Operations**
Execute daily roasting schedules based on production needs and inventory management.
Develop and maintain roast profiles for each coffee offering.
Ensure consistency, flavor integrity, and quality across all roasts.
Perform sample roasting and assist in coffee evaluation and sourcing decisions.
- **Quality Control & Cupping**
Lead weekly QC cuppings to evaluate production roasts and incoming green samples.
Maintain detailed logs and reports of roast profiles and QC data.
Collaborate with the production team to continuously improve quality and sensory standards.
- **Team Leadership**
Train, mentor, and manage the roasting and production team.
Ensure adherence to operational best practices and safety protocols.
Build a positive, accountable, and passionate team culture.
- **Green Coffee Management**
Coordinate with our green coffee suppliers on green coffee inventory and upcoming needs.
Manage green coffee storage to maintain optimal conditions for freshness and longevity.
- **Equipment Maintenance**
Oversee regular maintenance of roasting equipment and production areas.
Schedule and coordinate repairs and service when needed.
- **Product Development**
Assist in creating new products, blends, and limited releases based on seasonality and strategic initiatives.

**Qualifications**:

- At least 1 year experience roasting specialty coffee, ideally with a leadership role preferred.
- Deep understanding of coffee roasting science, green coffee characteristics, and sensory analysis.
- Strong cupping and evaluation skills.
- Familiarity with production scheduling, inventory systems, and green coffee management.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Physically able to handle heavy loads and be on their feet whole day during production days.
- Passion for specialty coffee, innovation, and continuous learning.
