Our client is a leading, independent, non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening engagement between Canada and the Indo-Pacific region by foster ties across government, business, and civil society. They are now seeking a Senior Research Program Manager to contribute to significant policy-relevant analysis and expand strategic partnerships at a pivotal moment in global geopolitics.

About the role:

Based in the Regional Singapore Office, reporting to the Vice-President Research & Strategy in Canada, you will be a key player in managing the research and programming activities across Southeast Asia. You'll be instrumental in producing high-quality, policy-relevant analysis, organizing and participating in key events, and significantly expanding our research, think-tank, and policy networks in the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of research and policy programs focused on China and Southeast Asia

  • Produce insightful reports, commentaries, and briefs on regional developments relevant to Canada's foreign policy, economic interests, and multilateral engagement.

  • Conduct in-depth research on China's evolving role in the Indo-Pacific, including its political, economic, and strategic engagement with Southeast Asia, providing crucial insights into Canada–China relations.

  • Cultivate and expand regional partnerships and stakeholder networks in Southeast Asia and beyond.

  • Represent the organization at prominent regional conferences, roundtables, and events throughout the Indo-Pacific.

  • Contribute to the organization of strategic dialogues, expert consultations, and events involving government, business, and academic communities.

  • Develop briefings and materials for stakeholders both in Canada and Southeast Asia.

  • Support regional engagement initiatives, including fellowships and visiting scholar programs.

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across global offices to achieve annual work plan objectives.

Requirements:

  • A graduate degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Political Science, International Relations, Asian Studies, or a closely related field.

  • A minimum of 5–7 years of professional experience in research, policy, or program management, ideally with a strong regional or international focus.

  • Demonstrated academic or professional expertise in China and its dynamic relationships with Southeast Asia and the broader Indo-Pacific

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Indo-Pacific region, including Canada's interests and partnerships.

  • Proven track record in producing impactful, policy-oriented research and facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues.

  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and public communication skills with strong project management abilities

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English & Chinese, other Asian language is a plus

  • Candidates must have the right to work in Singapore
