Job Purpose:

To manage container inventory and equipment flow efficiently, ensuring optimal utilization, cost control, and availability of containers to meet customer and operational requirements. The role involves coordination with internal departments, shipping lines, depots, and customers to maintain smooth equipment operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Container Inventory Control

  • Monitor and manage container stock levels at ports, depots, and customer locations.

  • Allocate equipment to meet import/export demands while avoiding shortages or surpluses.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates of container movements in the system.

  • Operational Coordination

  • Work with Operations, Documentation, and Sales teams to ensure containers are available for bookings.

  • Coordinate with depots for container release, repair, cleaning, and repositioning.
  • Handle customer enquiries related to equipment availability and delivery.

  • Cost & Efficiency Management

  • Track equipment-related costs (e.g., storage, demurrage, repair, repositioning).

  • Recommend solutions to minimize idle containers, reduce imbalances, and optimize repositioning strategies.
  • Support management in negotiations with depots and vendors.

  • Data Reporting & Analysis

  • Maintain accurate records of container stocks, utilization, and movements.

  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports on container inventory and imbalances.
  • Provide analysis to support decision-making on equipment deployment and trade lane needs.

  • Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure equipment handling follows company SOPs and safety regulations.

  • Verify that containers meet quality standards before release to customers.
  • Monitor and escalate damaged/defective containers for repair or survey.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Shipping, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of experience in shipping lines, container leasing, or logistics preferred.
  • Knowledge of container operations, depot management, and shipping documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, shipping software, or ERP systems.
  • Good communication skills with ability to liaise with customers and internal stakeholders.
