
Assistant Manager, Finance

Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Finance & Procurement, this role supports strategic financial planning, budgeting, and provision of financial insights to support effective decision-making while ensuring optimal resource allocation and financial sustainability of our charitable programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial planning and analysis principles and a passion for social impact.
The role will be responsible for the preparation of accurate financial reports with variance analysis, coordination of budgeting and forecasting exercises. This role is a key support strengthening financial management and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting
- Prepare management reports with analysis of trends and variances and highlights of key drivers to Council and leadership team.
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor financial performance and impact metrics for assessment of programme efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure key reporting datelines are met.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Key leads in the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Develop multi-year financial forecasts aligned with strategic goals.
- Monitor budget utilisation and provide variance analysis with actionable insights.
- Work closely with departments to understand financial needs and provide guidance on cost and funding management.
3. Audit & Compliance
- Support audit process (statutory, internal and programmes).
- Ensure proper maintenance of financial records in compliance with charity accounting standards and policies.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls.
5. Process Improvements
- Support initiatives to streamline financial reporting and analysis processes.
- Contribute to system enhancements, automation, and digitalisation projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in reporting.
Criteria:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 5 years of direct Finance operations experience.
- Experience in working and reporting directly to senior leadership.
- CPA or equivalent certification will be advantageous.
- Strong leadership experience in finance, accounting, procurement and governance functions.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and governance standards
- Expertise in project management, in audit management, risk oversight, and strategic financial planning
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in financial systems, data analytics tools, and process automation solutions.
- Prior experience with Tenderboard, SAP Business One, Power BI will be an added advantage
