Responsibilities
Missions:
- Providing legal advice and support to SG's Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) team and other departments in the Asia-Pacific region, including transaction management related to debt capital markets, third-party note issuance, loan financing, securitization, and related legal documentation.
- Liaising with external counsel, regulators, stock exchanges, clearing systems, agents, registrars, depositaries, and authorities concerning the above activities.
- Reporting and escalating issues to line managers and collaborating with other legal team members as necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with internal guidelines and assisting in updating relevant procedures.
This role offers a Junior Lawyer the opportunity to gain practical experience in finance law, including drafting and reviewing legal documents related to debt/note issuance, loan financing, and securitization, along with exposure to contract law and investment banking operations.
Profile required
Academic Background, Certifications, and Experience
- Law degree (Singapore or Commonwealth qualification preferred)
- Experience in capital markets or lending activities is advantageous
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
- Problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail
- Motivated, independent worker respecting reporting procedures
Operational Skills
- Basic postgraduate knowledge of fundamental legal principles in relevant areas
- Ability to draft legal documents, memos, and emails clearly and effectively
- Respond effectively to routine legal questions
- Identify and analyze core legal issues and risks
- Keep updated on regulatory changes and case law
- Conduct effective legal research
