- Equipment and personnel: Ensure only registered operators and appointed riggers/signalmen are involved and that the correct equipment for the load is selected and inspected.
- Site and ground conditions: Verify that the ground is safe for the lifting equipment and that the area is clear of obstructions.
During-operation responsibilities
- Supervision: Be present during the entire operation to provide continuous oversight.
- Monitoring: Monitor the lift's progress and ensure it proceeds according to the plan.
- Intervention: Take immediate action to correct any unsafe conditions that arise.
- Inspection: Conduct a post-lift inspection of the equipment to check for any damage.
- Reporting: Document any incidents and report them as required.
- Coordination: Coordinate any necessary maintenance or follow-up actions.
