As a Safety Officer (Maritime Industry), you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Examine ships and machinery operating areas to verify adherence to safety regulations.
  • Ensure all workers are equipped with the correct personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety vests, helmets, and gloves.
  • Help identify and evaluate risk levels (RA), and assess individual risks during operations, such as equipment hazards, working at heights, and exposure to high-pressure fluids.
  • Prepare and submit risk assessment documentation.
  • Coordinate with relevant maritime authorities and shipyards to apply for work permits for vessel operations.
  • Ensure all terminal and shipyard permit requirements are met and necessary approvals are secured prior to starting work.
  • Provide safety training to new and temporary employees.
  • Arrange onboard safety briefings, emergency drills, and toolbox talks.
  • Support emergency response efforts and take part in regular drills.
  • Submit incident reports and help with investigations and root cause analysis.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Engineering/Occupational Safety or related field preferred.
