Purpose & Scope

As a Senior Data Analyst / Data Scientist in Sembcorp Industries Ltd's Group Integrated Audit Department, you will be responsible for managing and developing solutions with data analytics to improve governance and process efficiency. Your role will involve managing, operating, maintaining and building on the current data analytics system and understanding Sembcorp's business processes to derive insights and shape business strategies and controls. You will also collaborate with the Group Integrated Audit's auditors in their audits.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Design and develop data analytics scripts and programs using data from various source systems, such as SAP S/4 HANA, e-Procurement system and Excel files, to identify potential control gaps and lapses in business processes.
• Operate and maintain the continuous assurance system, including the management of existing data analytics scripts/programs and case management tools.
• Gain a deep understanding of business processes across different departments to effectively gather and translate requirements into analytical solutions.
• Work closely with stakeholders to automate analytics workflows and develop meaningful data visualizations that support informed decision-making.
• Perform or assist in cybersecurity/ process audits, if required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on technical experience in a data analytics role.
• Experience in developing and implementing analytical solutions as part of broader IT and business processes.

Technical Skills

• Strong programming skills, particularly in Python scripting.
• Experience with data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Proficient in database querying and job scheduling tools.
• Working knowledge of SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA, including experience with common reports (e.g., ME2N, FBL1N) and SAP interfaces.
• Preferably experienced with Diligent HighBond and ACL (Audit Command Language) scripting.
• Experience in formalizing business problems as machine learning solutions and translating findings into actionable insights is advantageous.
• Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and generative AI technologies (e.g., Retrieval-Augmented Generation - RAG) is advantageous.

Business Domain Knowledge

• Sound understanding of procurement and finance processes.
• Ability to evaluate control adequacy and operational effectiveness using data-driven approaches.

Communication, Interpersonal Skills and Attitude

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills, with a knack for understanding business processes from both operational and audit perspectives to provide meaningful and constructive insights.
• Willingness to assist in audits related to IT/OT cybersecurity, business processes, and IT systems.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
