Job Summary:
The role of a Commodities Derivatives Sales professional is to generate revenue for the organization by selling exchange listed and OTC commodities derivatives products to targeted clients. This involves understanding client needs, providing market insights, and building long-term relationships with clients. The salesperson must have a strong understanding of commodities markets, derivatives instruments, and risk management strategies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Acquisition:
- Identify and prospect potential clients in the commodities industry, including institutional investors, corporations, hedge funds, and asset managers.
- Generate leads and develop a pipeline of potential clients through networking, referrals, and research.
- Conduct market analysis to identify potential opportunities and target specific client segments.
2. Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients.
- Understand clients' needs, investment objectives, and risk appetite.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on commodities derivatives products and strategies to meet clients' requirements.
- Regularly communicate market updates, research reports, and trade ideas to clients.
3. Sales Execution:
- Present and pitch commodities derivatives products to clients, explaining the benefits, risks, and potential returns.
- Coordinate with trading desks and support functions to execute trades and ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with clients.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes that may impact client portfolios.
4. Risk Management:
- Collaborate with risk management teams to assess and manage the risks associated with derivatives transactions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, internal policies, and risk limits.
- Educate clients on risk management strategies and best practices.
5. Market Research and Reporting:
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential new products.
- Prepare and present reports on market insights, client activities, and sales performance to management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field (advanced degrees may be preferred).
- Solid understanding of commodities markets, derivatives instruments, and risk management principles.
- Proven experience in sales or relationship management within the commodities or financial services industry.
- Strong networking and client acquisition skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in relevant financial software and trading platforms.
