Job Position: Vessel Accountant (Ship Management)

Key Responsibilities:

Vessel Accounting:

  • Prepare the Monthly Vessel Owners Report, Fund Requests, and Variance Reports to provide detailed financial insights.
  • Assist vessel owners by addressing their queries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Handle vessel owners requirements and ensure challenges are met accurately.
  • Calculate monthly vessel associated costs.
  • Support the implementation of new accounting software to improve financial operations.
  • Oversee vessel disbursements and manage intercompany reconciliations.
  • Prepare Quarterly GST reports for accurate tax compliance.
  • Ensure Month-End Closing procedures are completed accurately and timely.
  • Assist in the implementation of systems and initiatives to minimize manual processing and increase operational efficiency.

Accounts Payable (AP) / Accounts Receivable (AR):

  • Supervise Accounts Payable functions, ensuring proper processing of invoices and addressing any challenging situations.
  • Prepare Year-End Accruals and Audit Schedules to ensure financial records are prepared for year-end reviews.
  • Approve Corporate Invoices within the system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Handle the closing of prepayments in the accounting system.

Corporate Accounting:

  • Manage and oversee the Annual Statutory Audit and related taxation matters.
  • Execute Month-End Activities including Bank Reconciliations, posting of Journal Entries (JVs), accruals, and necessary adjustments.
  • Prepare and present Management Reports to provide insights into financial performance and trends.
  • Handle Intercompany Reconciliation and settlement processes to ensure accurate financial records.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in vessel accounting. Preferably in Ship Management.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, financial modeling, and reporting.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Abatech and SEE System is a plus
  • Detailed oriented and able to work in fast paced environment with deadlines and goals
  • Good written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Committed and meticulous individual with great team bonding skills
  • Proactive communicator
