Overview of Position

The jobholder carries out non-invasive and invasive cardiac procedures; monitors haemodynamic parameters of patients during invasive cardiac procedures and assists the cardiologist in specialized procedures in accordance to established standards of care and practice.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Set up 24-hr Ambulatory Holter/Blood Pressure monitoring for patients

  2. Perform 12-lead ECG

  3. Perform Signal-Averaged ECG

  4. Perform Device checks

  5. Perform 2D Echocardiography

  6. Perform Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography

  7. Perform Exercise Stress Echocardiogrphy

  8. Assist the doctor in:

  • Cardiac Nuclear Perfusion Scan

  • Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test

  • Coronary Angiography/Angioplasty procedures

  • Electrophysiological Studies

  • Tilt-table Testing

  • Transthoracic Esophageal Echocardiography

  • Treadmill Exercise Stress Test

  1. Carry out treatment and investigations prescribed by cardiologists

  2. Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  3. Demonstrate clinical skills and knowledge in the delivery of patient care

  4. Display compassion, positive and caring attitude towards patients, internal and external customers.

  5. Conduct orientation for new staff.

  6. Guide and provide coaching to junior staff.

  7. Demonstrate proper use and care of equipment.

  8. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Secondary Responsibilities

  1. Participate in service improvement projects.

  2. Promote and maintain a harmonious working relationship amongst department staff and doctors.

  3. Attend in-service lectures, courses and seminars.

  4. Demonstrate awareness of current clinical and healthcare practices.

  5. Demonstrate proper and economical use of consumables and supplies.

  6. Adhere to hospital's policies and procedures.

  7. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by superior.

Requirements

Qualification Required and Area of Discipline

Degree in Medical Technology/Biomedical Science or equivalent with at least 2 years related work experience preferred.

Required Competencies and Capabilities (Skills, Experiences and Professional Licences)

  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Service-oriented and customer-focused.

  • Computer literate.
