Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team and ensure all welding activities meet stringent quality standards and project specifications. The ideal candidate will play a key role in overseeing welding operations, inspecting welds, and supporting quality assurance across structural steel fabrication and erection works.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and verify welding specifications and drawings for each project.
  • Ensure proper equipment, consumables, and materials are used for welding tasks.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of completed welds.
  • Assess the quality, strength, and integrity of welds against applicable codes and standards.
  • Recommend alternative welding techniques where necessary to improve quality or efficiency.
  • Demonstrate correct welding procedures and techniques to welding personnel.
  • Contribute to the development and testing of new welding methods.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Ensure all welding activities comply with local health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 4 years of inspection experience in structural steelwork.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Certified Welding Inspector in building structural steelwork fabrication and erection within Singapore.
  • Certified by AWS (CWI) or TWI (CSWIP 3.1 Level 2).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of various welding techniques including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
  • Hands-on experience with UT (Ultrasonic Testing), MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection), and RT (Radiographic Testing).
  • Experience preparing PQR/WPS documentation and welding inspection reports.
  • Ability to monitor and manage calibration schedules for testing equipment.
  • Competency in maintaining welder certification records and overseeing QC on welding work.
  • Good management, supervision, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
Preferred Experience:
  • Construction industry background, particularly in large-diameter water pipe laying projects.
  • Strong coordination skills with teams and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with Singapore's construction safety standards and protocols.
