PURPOSE

As the Senior Project Portfolio Director, your primary responsibility will be to lead a dynamic project organization capable of efficiently and successfully deploying portfolios, programs, and projects that prioritize the ease and safety of our customers throughout their travel journey. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in promoting sustainability and cultural diversity within our initiatives.

You will assume ownership and be held accountable for the success and profitability of assigned portfolios, providing a clear vision of our company values and goals to the organization you oversee.

Your exceptional ability to lead, inspire, motivate, and manage resources will be instrumental in ensuring the consistent adoption and implementation of best practice standards across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee Portfolios, Programs, and Projects- Within this role, you will manage portfolios, programs, and projects of varying sizes, encompassing different scopes and complexities. Your proficiency in efficiently handling large and complex projects ensures their successful delivery from inception to completion. Developing resource and capacity plans to support existing and future work demands will be integral to your responsibilities. You will diligently manage and mitigate risks while consistently delivering on committed outcomes. Additionally, you will lead Project Review Boards (PRBs), participate in Customer Project Review Boards (CPRBs), GEO Business Approval Board (GBABs) and SteerCo's, and provide comprehensive updates on portfolio status. Success in portfolio management hinges on exceptional attention to detail, effective planning, and excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.

  • Collaborating with Portfolio Teams - As part of your responsibilities, you will consistently assess, suggest, and uphold the optimal headcount and project delivery organization's location in alignment with the annual medium-term capacity and skills strategy. Building, overseeing, and leading a proficient, adaptable, and motivated team of project management professionals to handle the current and future workload will be central to your role. You possess expertise in recruiting, inspiring, performance management, training, and developing your team members. Your strong leadership and communication skills enable you to effortlessly engage in effective negotiations and articulate ideas throughout the organization.

  • Project Management Administration - As a dedicated advocate, you will actively support and uphold all company-defined standards and practices. Your role involves promoting practice standards and ensuring their consistent implementation and adherence across all projects. You will be responsible for generating and maintaining comprehensive reports, ensuring continuous visibility into portfolio, program, and project activities. Furthermore, you will contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the project management profession within the company.

Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE
  • To be successful in this role, you should have a proven track record of managing multiple programs of varying sizes, budgets, and deliverables within a commercial environment.
  • You have a track record of success in recruiting, developing and managing project teams.
  • Your experience demonstrates the ability to effectively manage and control large budgets.
  • Additionally, you should have working experience with executives and C level senior management.
  • Ideally, you will also have experience working with IT solutions, in the travel and transportation industry.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree, MBA or equivalent
  • Formal project management training and certification - PMP certified.
  • PgMP or PfMP certification highly desired.
