Science Lab Assistant

Contract Period:

  • Base Period: 2 January 2026 to 31 December 2026
  • Option Period: 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2027 (subject to good performance review by the school)

Working Hours:

  • Mondays to Fridays: 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM (inclusive of 30-minute lunch break)
  • No service required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays

Scope of Services

The Science Lab Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day preparation, organisation, and maintenance of the school's science laboratory facilities and resources. Key responsibilities include:

Laboratory Operations

  • Be present in the Science Lab's preparation room and labs during working hours.
  • Prepare and provide apparatus, equipment, and other teaching materials for lessons as requested by science teachers.
  • Clear away equipment and materials after lessons, safely dispose of waste, and wash apparatus.
  • Inspect equipment after each lesson for faults or damage, report to the science teacher or HOD, and repair if possible.
  • Liaise with the Technical Assistant to ensure IT equipment (desktops, notebooks, visualisers, projectors) is functional.
  • Check and replenish first aid kits.
  • Distribute desk copies and science materials to teachers.

Stock Management

  • Prepare an inventory of stock twice a year.
  • Liaise with the HOD to replenish consumables.
  • Maintain a stock book, record breakages, and arrange replacements.
  • Track apparatus and reference materials loaned to teachers.

Special Activities

  • Maintain exhibits (noticeboards, interactive displays, live exhibits) in the lab and around the school.
  • Support teachers during practical assessments.
  • Assist in preparations for science exhibitions.
  • Provide additional support to science teachers and the HOD in related matters.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Independent and confident, with good initiative.
  • Preferably completed Sec 4 education.
  • Relevant work experience, preferably 2 years in a primary school science laboratory.
  • Team player who is organized, meticulous, and able to multitask.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Job Type: Contract

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: Up to $3,000.00 per month
