Join KPMG's Deal Execution team and shape the future of M&A advisory services across Asia Pacific's most complex and high-profile transactions.
KPMG in Singapore is part of a global organisation of independent professional services firms providing Audit, Tax and Advisory services. We operate in 143 countries and territories with more than 273,000 partners and employees working in member firms around the world. Each KPMG firm is a legally distinct and separate entity and describes itself as such. KPMG International Limited is a private English company limited by guarantee. KPMG International Limited and its related entities do not provide services to clients.
About the Role:
We invite highly motivated and dynamic professionals to join our growing Deal Execution practice in Singapore. As part of KPMG's Deal Advisory group, the Deal Execution team provides clients with advisory services related to mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. We are a collaborative, diverse, high performing team, working with high profile corporate and private equity clients on some of the largest and most complex deals in the region and globally. We work across a variety of sectors, with a particular focus on financial services, healthcare and life sciences, and TMT. The team's key proposition areas are as follows:
- Integration: Planning pre- and post-deal to support clients to safely deliver and take control of acquisitions, or facilitate JV partnerships, and integrate acquisitions, whilst enhancing value.
- Separation: Supporting vendors to strategically deliver credible carve-out concepts, strategy plans, and execution, with value preserved and business continuity ensured.
- Synergies: Helping clients understand the potential benefits and costs of a transaction, or critically evaluating synergy cases.
- Due diligence: Highlighting key operational risks, opportunities and, if applicable, execution readiness at a target, in order to ensure that acquirers are aware of key issues that may impact valuation or smooth and safe delivery of a transaction.
- Operations and value creation: Using our data and analytics capabilities, as well as subject matter and sector/functional specialists, we help clients reduce costs, release cash and create revenue, both in-deal and post-deal.
Key Responsibilities:
As a manager within the team, your role will entail client-facing delivery, as well as development, mentoring and coaching of the team. You will gain exposure to a wide range of M&A transactions and your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high levels of client satisfaction throughout engagements, managing client interactions and updates, ownership of deliverables and outputs (which can include integration/separation strategies, designs and plans; synergies analysis/reviews; due diligence reports), and management of project team(s) to assist clients in executing M&A related projects across multiple functions (including finance, technology, supply chain, HR, etc.), geographies, and within the project management office (PMO).
- Confidently providing high quality insight and input on advice given to clients related to deal strategy and execution.
- Application of the KPMG global deal execution methodologies to the practical aspects of business operations and the client's market sector throughout the engagement process to support sound and practical recommendations to clients.
- Understand and articulate graphically and verbally the sources of value for synergies, and help assess client's assumptions to support the pre-signing process.
- Understanding, articulating and helping clients mitigate against likely issues that could impact project success.
- Working collaboratively with wider KPMG service lines and geographies to support clients.
- Performance management, coaching, mentoring and supporting our team members to help them reach their full potential.
- Supporting (and, in some cases, owning) client pitches, proposals, business development initiatives and internal/external marketing initiatives.
- Ownership and input into practice development activities/initiatives.
- Ensuring KPMG engagement quality and risk management procedures are consistently applied on each engagement to protect the interests of our clients, as well as KPMG.
- As we often work from client sites and have a global portfolio of clients, you will need to be willing to travel.
Who and What We're Looking For:
Your experience and expertise should ideally include most of the following:
- An understanding of the market drivers, challenges and opportunities impacting our clients' strategies and priorities, particularly around one or more of our key focus sectors of financial services; healthcare and life sciences; and telecoms, media and technology.
- Demonstrable experience in M&A and/or restructuring/operational improvement experience in advisory/consultancy, or industry-based operational role, with deep industry focus and a strong understanding of the M&A cycle (ideally 5-8 years).
- Experience of executing and/or overseeing key integration and separation activities such as project management office support, synergy evaluation, communications planning, operating model development, finance, technology and HR project planning and execution is preferred.
- Relevant degree and/or post-graduate qualification.
- Fluency in English is required, with a second regional language an advantage.
