Job Summary:

The Process Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring that process safety risks associated with the FPSO are identified, evaluated, and controlled to prevent major accidents and ensure regulatory compliance. The role involves supporting design, operations, and maintenance teams by applying systematic safety principles and conducting hazard analyses throughout the FPSO lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate process safety activities during engineering, construction, commissioning, and operation phases of FPSO projects.
  • Develop and implement safety studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, QRA, and Bowtie Analysis.
  • Support the implementation of corporate and regulatory process safety requirements and ensure alignment with international safety standards (e.g., API, ISO, IEC, NORSOK).
  • Review and provide input on process design documents, including PFDs, P&IDs, Cause & Effect charts, and Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments for new and existing processes, and support the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical support for the selection and specification of safety-critical equipment and systems.
  • Ensure that Safety Case documentation and performance standards are developed and maintained.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to support MOC (Management of Change), incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and report safety performance indicators and participate in audits and safety reviews.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of process safety management systems.
Requirements:

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in process safety within the oil & gas industry, preferably with FPSO exposure.
  • Proven experience in conducting hazard identification and risk assessment workshops.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of process safety standards and regulations.
  • Proficient in safety analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Good understanding of offshore process systems, safety instrumented systems, and control of major accident hazards.
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and HSE teams.
