Location: Singapore – Innovation Centre

About the Role

As the Senior Researcher, you will lead and execute advanced R&D projects to develop next-generation aerogel particles and materials. You will design experiments, develop new formulations, optimize processes, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring novel aerogel applications from concept to reality. Your track record in complex materials research, proven industrial application, and hands-on mastery of characterization techniques will be key in creating solutions that meet stringent performance, quality, and commercial targets.

7 MUST-HAVE Requirements:

Advanced Technical Expertise in Materials Science or Chemistry

• Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering with a proven track record in materials R&D.
• Strong foundation in organic/inorganic particle synthesis, material formulation, and development of composites, coatings, or particle-based systems.

Specialization in Aerogel or Thermal Insulation Materials

• Hands-on experience in the formulation, development, and optimization of aerogel materials or similar thermal insulation products.
• In-depth knowledge of powder technology, including rheology, flow characterization, packing, and caking behavior.

Proficiency in Advanced Characterization & Testing Methods

• Skilled in techniques such as BET surface analysis, TGA, DSC, SALD, SEM, FTIR, rheometry, mechanical testing, and surface analysis.
• Ability to interpret test data to guide product improvement, troubleshoot issues, and validate performance.

Process Optimization, Scale-Up & Technology Transfer

• Proven ability to move from lab-scale experimentation to pilot or production-scale processes.
• Experience collaborating with manufacturing teams in scaling, process optimization, quality control, and technology transfer.

Strong Documentation, Safety & IP Awareness

• Capable of preparing thorough research documentation, SOPs, and technical reports.
• Knowledge of safety compliance in material handling and experience contributing to patents and other intellectual property.

Problem-Solving & Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration

• Proven track record of solving complex material challenges by integrating chemistry, engineering, and testing insights.
• Comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams, bridging R&D with production and commercial functions.

Collaborative Mindset with Independent Drive

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work independently while contributing effectively to team objectives.
