What the role is

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is Singapore's central bank and integrated financial regulator.

As central bank, MAS promotes sustained, non-inflationary economic growth through the conduct of monetary policy and close macroeconomic surveillance and analysis. It manages Singapore's exchange rate, official foreign reserves, and liquidity in the banking sector.

As an integrated financial supervisor, MAS fosters a sound financial services sector through its prudential oversight of all financial institutions in Singapore – banks, insurers, capital market intermediaries, financial advisors, and stock exchanges. It is also responsible for well-functioning financial markets, sound conduct, and investor education.

What you will be working on

  • Conduct deep technical assessments and inspections of AI models and systems used within the financial sector.
  • Evaluate the technical soundness, robustness, validation processes, data integrity, and explainability of AI models from a supervisory perspective.
  • Provide expert technical consultation on AI systems, model risk management, and validation techniques to supervisors and policy specialists.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI technologies, potential vulnerabilities, and supervisory best practices.
  • Contribute technical expertise to the development of supervisory guidance and training materials related to AI model risk.
  • Interpret complex technical documentation for supervisory assessment purposes.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant degrees in fields like Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or a related highly quantitative field.
  • Deep practical understanding of AI concepts, including various model types, validation techniques, and limitations, and how it relates to AI risk management.
  • Able to critically analyse and assess AI models and systems.
  • Experience in model risk management, AI auditing, or technical supervision/inspection.
  • Familiarity with AI fairness, explainability, and robustness assessment techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to technical detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
