[What the role is]
The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a society where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in our City in Nature.
[What you will be working on]
As part of the Centre for Animal Rehabilitation under the Professional and Scientific Services Division, you will be involved in supporting the outreach duties related to animal welfare and behaviour rehabilitation and improving standards of the dog training industry in Singapore.
Your job scope as a rehabilitation manager includes:
- Assist in the development and review of policies and programmes related to animal welfare and behaviour.
- Develop and implement behaviour modification plans for dogs undergoing behaviour rehabilitation.
- Oversee a team in carrying out behaviour modification training for the dogs at the centre.
- Collaborate with international and local behaviour experts to develop and organise training courses, talks and workshops for staff, volunteers, industry and the public.
- Organise engagement sessions with industry stakeholders.
- Plan and execute school learning journeys to the Centre, and host student projects at the Centre to spread key messages on animal behaviour and training.
- Organise and carry out publicity for animal rehoming activities such as meet and greets, interviews, screening of potential owners and post-adoption support.
- Assist with the different activities and programmes related to the Centre
[What we are looking for]
- Area of study in animal behaviour, animal welfare, psychology, biology, or related fields is preferred.
- Relevant working experience in animal training, behaviour rehabilitation, animal care, handling and husbandry is preferred.
- Prepared to work outside office hours, including weekends and public holidays
Successful candidates will be offered a 1-year employment contract.
