[What you will be working on]
As part of the Centre for Animal Rehabilitation under the Professional and Scientific Services Division, you will be involved in supporting the managerial duties related to the running of the Centre.
Your job scope as a rehabilitation manager includes:
- Develop and implement canine and feline behavioural rehabilitation programmes
- Develop and implement training courses for staff, volunteers, industry and the public
- Conduct behaviour and welfare assessments of animals, design and implement behaviour modification programmes
- Conduct animal rehoming activities such as meet and greets, interviews, screening of potential owners and post-adoption support
- Manage any other duties required in the rehabilitation centre to ensure smooth functioning, including husbandry and care of animals, record-keeping, data and inventory management and volunteer management
- Procurement and management of inventory and contract services, supervision of contractors, planning and budgeting, data management and analysis, regular maintenance and upkeep of facilities and equipment, workplace health and safety, and managerial duties
- Assist with animal operations and research activities, including handling public enquiries, liaison with external parties such as the public, volunteers and Animal Welfare Groups on enquiries and the Centre’s programmes, animal care and husbandry, research sampling, data analysis and report writing
- Assist with the different activities and programmes related to the Centre
- Support the functions of other divisions within the organisation by providing expertise in animal behaviour and animal welfare
[What we are looking for]
- Degree in animal behaviour, animal welfare, psychology, biology, or related fields.
- Relevant working experience in animal training, behaviour rehabilitation, animal care, handling and husbandry or education is preferred.
- Relevant experience in animal welfare science is preferred.
- Scientific understanding of canine and feline behaviour, principles of learning and experience in writing animal training plans is preferred.
- Strong management and coordination skills, independent, self-motivated, meticulous and enthusiastic.
- Able to work effectively with others in a team environment.
- Good written/ oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Physically fit and able to work closely with animals on a daily basis.
- Required to work on weekends on a rostered basis
