The Air Freight Procurement Manager (APAC) is responsible for developing and executing regional air freight procurement strategies across the Asia-Pacific region. The role focuses on securing optimal rates, capacity, and service performance from air carriers and logistics partners while ensuring alignment with global procurement standards and business objectives. The incumbent will act as the key liaison between global logistics teams, local operations, and external carriers to deliver cost efficiency, service reliability, and compliance in all air freight activities.

Job Description

  • Develop and implement regional air freight procurement strategies aligned with global logistics objectives.
  • Source and negotiate air freight capacity, rates, and contracts with carriers and freight forwarders.
  • Monitor market trends, fuel surcharges, and capacity developments to optimize procurement decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with airlines, forwarders, and logistics service providers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance using KPIs such as on-time performance, cost competitiveness, and compliance.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with strategic suppliers and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support global procurement and trade lane management initiatives
  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere to corporate policies, trade compliance, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain accurate and auditable records of contracts, pricing, and supplier communications.
  • Present regular updates to senior management on market conditions, risks, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in air freight procurement, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Strong regional exposure in Asia-Pacific markets.
  • Experience working in multinational organizations or freight forwarding companies is advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of air freight market dynamics, rate structures, and carrier networks.
  • Fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written) – required for effective supplier and stakeholder communication across the region.
