About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director (Advancement Office) to play a key leadership role in driving philanthropic partnerships and donor engagement within a leading healthcare and research organisation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with philanthropists, corporations, and foundations, aligning donor interests with the organisation's funding priorities.
Reporting to the Director, Advancement Office, this individual will manage a portfolio of major donors, oversee all phases of the gift cycle, and contribute to the development of impactful general giving programmes and community initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects to secure significant philanthropic support.
- Lead donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to strengthen long-term relationships.
- Drive the structuring and closure of major gifts, ensuring alignment with donor intentions and organisational priorities.
- Collaborate with colleagues across fundraising functions (Major Gifts, General Giving, Stewardship, Communications, Prospect Research, and Operations) to ensure a coordinated advancement strategy.
- Identify and implement engagement opportunities to enhance donors' financial and non-financial contributions.
- Mentor and guide junior fundraisers, fostering talent development and professional growth.
- Support the development of giving programmes such as staff giving, grateful patient, and community initiatives.
- Contribute to capacity building within the organisation's fundraising community through mentoring and best practices sharing.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and timely reporting of fundraising activities and outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of fundraising experience with a proven and tangible record of securing major gifts.
- Minimum 3 years of team management experience, leading diverse fundraising professionals.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively across multiple departments and levels of management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in healthcare or research fundraising will be an advantage.
