About the role

The Planning Engineer role plays a critical part in supporting new project tenders through the planning of work execution, technical reviews, and value engineering proposals. The ideal candidate enjoys working closely with both HQ Engineering Team and Site Teams and is passionate about contributing to successful project planning.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to rotate between the engineer role at HQ and project sites to gain more experience.

Responsibilities

Planning

  • Prepare and update project schedules and changes to project planning
  • Coordinate with the construction team to prepare working programme
  • Submit progress updates and reports

Technical Support

  • Interpret drawings, plans, and technical specifications for tender and construction phases.
  • Provide technical support and solutions to facilitate site condition and situation
  • Assist in preparing Construction Method Statements and other technical proposal
  • Compile Progress Reports to update the progress of structural works in assigned project
  • Collaborate with Contracts, Project, and Design teams to clarify drawings and technical documents.
  • Support the preparation of value engineering and alternative solutions, taking into consideration cost, schedule, maintenance and life cycle cost implications
  • Provide advice to client on technical matters
  • Coordinate with RE and RTO on site issues

Operational Support

  • Perform site planning, coordination & inspection relating to the construction project so as to ensure that project completion timeline, requirements and budget are met
  • Assist in the implementation of project operations to comply with ISO standard requirements
  • Update the progress of structural works in the Progress Reports
  • Assist in commissioning, including coordination of structural engineering
  • Maintain the proper documentation of inspection forms and other follow-up inspections from RE
  • Support Quantity Surveyors in conducting site measurements and inspections

Customer, Safety & Quality Management

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, sub-contractors & relevant authorities
  • Work under the advice of the Safety Officer to adhere to compliance & safety requirements with regulatory and industry standards during the construction phase
  • To ensure works are in compliance with quality procedures and within standard workmanship requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering /Structural Engineering recognized by the PE Board
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in the Construction industry
  • Candidates with more experience will be considered for the senior position.
  • Preferably to have experience in construction planning or technical engineering ( C&S)
  • Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction planning methodologies, scheduling tools and project management best practices
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications and contract documents
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities
