**Team Summary**

Deepening partnerships with merchants and acquirers is a critical component of Visa’s expand access and digital infrastructure strategy. Merchant Sales & Acquiring (MS&A) is the global Visa functional team tasked with this responsibility. The SMT Cluster (Singapore, Malaysia & Thailand) team within the MS&A function plays an important role in growing business with Merchants and Acquirers across the three markets. Visa has reinforced its focus on long-term acceptance growth by developing partnerships, enhancing market investments, and having the right talent to execute directly with our regional merchant & acquirer clients.

**What a Business Development Manager for the SMT cluster does at Visa**:

- The individual will work closely with MS&A leads and team in the markets on client data-driven business development strategies and will support the development of partnerships with identified payment solution providers with presence across multiple markets across the SMT region.
- This role requires leadership, vision, curiosity, and creativity to further develop the strategy and initiatives to accelerate new acceptance and sell Visa solutions to key payment enablers. This role will work closely with senior executives and payment professionals at our partners, and internally across functions and regional hub to gain support for the execution of the strategies required to grow our business.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Develop strategies to identify opportunities to grow card acceptance, by analyzing segment potential and acceptance gaps in the market
- Develop strategies to grow Visa payments in a highly competitive and fast changing payments landscape across the SMT cluster
- Support the implementation of new initiatives/solutions with a specific focus on growing new payment acceptance opportunities
- Develop business cases to analyze / evaluate investment support for opportunities, understand the role of interchange and pricing.
- Leverage data insights and serve as the project lead to drive deployment of capabilities/solutions, with the aim of displacing cash and driving digital payments adoption across the SMT region
- Identify synergies and develop best practices across SMT markets to improve speed to market and replicability of deployments
- Support and participate in the internal and client business planning and quarterly business review processes
- Establish strong working relationships with cross functional teams (regional and market), Legal, Compliance, Product.
- Work with markets to open and scale acceptance at key underserved merchant verticals (insurance, gaming, government payments etc)
- Defend against proliferation of alternative payments across SMT and work across functions to develop strategies to drive preference and adoption for Visa payments

**Why this is important to Visa**:
Supporting the development and implementation of strategies to grow new payment acceptance as well as the penetration of electronic payments in specific merchant segments, this role will leverage commonalities across the SMT markets to manage merchants, acquirers and product solutions deployment, identify synergies across the ecosystem to accelerate speed to market in rolling out seller-side solutions, and manage programs to open acceptance / drive usage at key merchant verticals.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.
