**What the role is**
- The Travel Agents & Tourist Guides (TATG) Division is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to come make a difference in showcasing the Singapore story and play an instrumental role in supporting the travel agent community. The Tour and Industry Development (TID) department champions the travel agent sector, guided by the Travel Agent (TA) Roadmap that focuses on the 3 strategic pillars of manpower, technology and business transformation. We keep a keen eye on progression for the industry through supporting agile and resilient travel agents who can adapt to the evolving demands of travellers and compete on the global stage. TID also drives the development of a vibrant tour landscape in Singapore through tour development initiatives that showcase the Singapore passion and possibilities, that leave visitors with a deeper appreciation of the Singapore story.
**What you will be working on**
- As a key member of the TID team, you will play an instrumental role supporting TID’s work on the Travel Agent Roadmap, working with multiple stakeholders, encompassing tour operators, local business owners, and channel partners to develop or refresh good quality tour products that are relevant to our visitors and drive tourism spend from our target segment, including leisure and MICE travellers. You will need to understand the needs of visitors from various key source markets by working alongside STB regional offices to curate and market tour products that are relevant to these visitors. You will work closely with local and international Online Travel Agents (OTA) and other appropriate platform players and DMCs to help entrench their presence in Singapore, at the same time, onboard Singapore's tour products onto their platforms.
You will have the opportunity to build deep knowledge of the tour and activities eco-system and become well-versed in technology solutions and business models that can help tour operators move towards sustainable growth. You are also expected to understand the future consumption of tour products by consumers, identify enhancements of and/or new tour genres that will help Singapore deepen its menu of quality tour experiences in the coming decade. In support of STB's T203X tourism plan, you will oversee the tour development in new areas like Sustainability in collaboration with industry.
You will be the account manager for key tour operators, honing your business development skills, understanding their challenges and identifying opportunities. This includes providing targeted support and administering various grant schemes such as the Experience Step-Up Fund (ESF) and Business Improvement Fund (BIF) grant for the industry.
**What we are looking for**
- At least 1 year of working experience, preferably in the areas of travel agent industry, industry development, and/or strategic planning
- Tourism industry acumen, especially on the potential of the travel agent industry despite macro and micro challenges.
- Enjoy challenges and problem solving
- Some understanding of travel agent or tour operator ecosystem
- Some understanding of various technology solutions that can be adopted by travel agents, e.g. travel management systems, HR solutions.
- Ability to interpret financial statements - to review the financial documents required for grants administering
