a) Making qualified joints that conform to the relevant specifications.
- b) Keeping abreast of any UJCM updates and chances.
- c) Taking charge of the jointing team (only when he is fully qualified jointer) and ensuring all cable jointing conforms to the specifications.
- d) Keeping deck watch duties during cable operation.
- e) Testing of the spare stock cable (under the supervision of his superior) and inspection of spare submersible plant.
- f) Carrying out routine maintenance and repairing on testing equipment, jointing equipment, communication equipment, shipboard equipment, CCTV, etc.
- g) Carrying out in-house calibration on jointing tool/equipment, using the Transfer Calibration Standard Equipment.
- h) Assisting the Chief/Senior Technical Specialist in preparing the jointing equipment and material list (kit boxes, adhesive, consumables, etc) to effect a cable operation.
- i) Monitoring the cable working consumables inventory levels and ensuring that all the consumables are always adequate for cable repair operations and submit monthly consumables returns to office.
- j) Assisting the Chief/Senior Technical Specialist in keeping up-to-date of departmental asset, outfit, inventory and disposal records.
- k) Assisting the Technical Specialist in preparing the Purchase Requisitions for departmental purchase.
- l) Maintaining the general cleanliness of all working areas used by the department.
- m) Attaching to Subsea Dept during the ROV PRIB operation as ROV operator, when required.
- n) Providing land cable repair support.
- o) Maintenance of the submarine cable’s land jointing equipment and inspecting the consumables and kits at the customer’s premises, when required.
- p) Any other duties assigned by Chief/Senior Technical Specialist and/or Head Technical Specialist.

**Job Requirement**
- a) National ITE Certificate (NITEC), Higher NITEC, Technical Diploma or Technical Certification from a recognized institution.
- b) Basic Safety Training, STCW 2010
- c) UJ/UQJ training
