Literacy Support Coaches

MK Literacy Support Coaches
[The deployment to the MOE Kindergartens is mínimally a year. Each coach will be deployed to about 5 centres for coaching of staff.]
Working hours:
- Mondays to Fridays about 8.30am - 5pm, (3.5 days per week from Mon-Fri, flexible timing dependent on deployment), with 1hr lunch break
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
Scope of Services:
The Services required are set out as follows:
- Conduct regular professional development for MOE Kindergarten Educators (MKEs) on literacy support i.e. developmental lesson observations and sharing sessions
- Conduct at least two developmental lesson observations per MKE
- Facilitate centre-based sharing sessions on-a-needs basis.
- Coach MKEs individually and provide them small group guidance as they begin their literacy support in their centres:
- Support the Pre-school Literacy Support Co-ordinator, in the planning and the conduct workshops for MKEs
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of literacy support in the MKs
- Provide feedback on the refinement of literacy support
The Personnel shall mínimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- sound content knowledge in intervention approaches for language and literacy development and word-level skills in early childhood
- ideally three years of experience with literacy support / intervention programmes in the pre-school and/or lower primary levels (e.g. Learning Support Programme, Reading Remediation Programme, School-based Dyslexia Remediation Programme or teaching lower primary English (STELLAR)
- experience mentoring others or training educators in early language and literacy (ages four to eight)
- Relevant professional teaching qualification in education (pre-school / early childhood / primary school)
