The National University of Singapore’s NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI) is seeking a motivated and capable Research Fellow to lead and support cutting-edge research on microbial assessments of marine biofouling. This position will focus on the early-stage settlement of microfouling organisms, including bacteria and protists, and their cascading effects on macrofoulers such as barnacles, tube worms, and corals.

**Qualifications**
- Conduct microbial assessments of initial biofilm formation and microfouling organism settlement on marine substrates.
- Monitor and analyze the influence of microbial biofilms on the recruitment and growth of macrofouling organisms including barnacles, tube worms, and corals.
- Perform microscopy-based analyses to document and quantify fouling organisms at different successional stages.
- Design and conduct field and laboratory experiments relevant to marine biofouling processes.
- Work independently to manage research activities, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications, technical reports, and presentations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders involved in marine and coastal ecosystem studies.
