This Research Associate position is in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University Singapore. The Research Associate works on modeling, simulation, and digital twin of data center cooling technologies involving radiative cooling, evaporative cooling, and other hybrid cooling technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Development of multi-mode cooling system models that involve radiative cooling, evaporative cooling, and other potential passive cooling technologies
- Modeling and simulation of the proposed cooling systems under the tropical climate of Singapore
- Integration of the proposed cooling system models with data center digital twins
- Optimization of the proposed cooling system performances and the energy efficiency of a data center with CFD, deep learning, and digital twin approaches
- Evaluation of the proposed cooling systems with indicators such as COP, data center PUE, carbon footprint, capital cost, operation cost, payback period, etc

Job Requirements:

- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Computer Science, and other disciplines with relevant experiences and skills
- Strong math skills for building analytical and numerical models of heat and mass transfer processes
- Experience in designing, modeling, and simulation of cooling, refrigeration, and energy systems
- Experience in CFD tools such as Fluent, COMSOL, and Openfoam. OpenFoam is preferred
- Programming skills in languages such as Python, Matlab, C++
- Understanding of data center cooling technologies (optional)
- Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and/or digital twin (optional)
- Publication track record (optional)
