**Procurement**:Help select, tender, and appoint M&E contractors and suppliers along with management.
**Cost Planning**:Provide early-stage cost advice for M&E elements during design development.
**Risk Management**:Identify risks (technical and financial) in M&E installations and propose mitigation.
**Value Engineering**:Propose alternatives to achieve cost savings without compromising function or quality.
**Final Accounts**:Prepare and agree final accounts with M&E contractors at project close-out.

**Responsibilities of an M&E QS**:
Preparing detailed **Bills of Quantities (BoQ)**specifically for M&E packages.
Managing **cost forecasts and cashflows**for M&E works.
Monitoring **progress claims**and ensuring payments are made accurately and fairly.
Reviewing **tender documents, technical specifications**, and **drawings**to ensure proper pricing.
Preparing and negotiating **variations and change orders**for M&E works.
Conducting **site visits**to monitor installed M&E works against contract specifications.
Advising on **cost implications**when there are design changes to M&E systems.
Ensuring compliance with **building codes**, **safety standards**, and **industry regulations**.
Participating in **progress meetings**and providing commercial input for M&E aspects.
