**Purpose of the position**:
Responsible for providing high quality legal services to the GE HealthCare business in Singapore and other countries within the ASEAN geographic area as may be required (collectively “**business**”).
- The role holder plays a significant role in helping the business identify, manage and mitigate various legal, compliance, regulatory and reputational risks.
- The role provides legal support and advice to the business on a variety of commercial, operational, compliance, controllership, regulatory, corporate governance, execution and strategic issues.
- The role also provides contract drafting, negotiation and legal support on international and domestic sales agreements, dispute minimisation and resolution advice for the business.
**Independence and Capacity**
**Essential responsibilities**:
- The role works directly with the business teams and the broader GE HealthCare legal teams, to develop and execute business goals and objectives, including establishing and implementing business strategy. The role holder will engage with the wider GE HealthCare legal teams as required to assess and advise the business on the risks of possible business decisions.
- The role provides legal services & assistance on issues which may include collaborations, commercial transactions, regulatory and licensing, compliance, investigations, trade controls, product liability and risk assessment, contract interpretation and dispute resolution. This may also include the provision of day-to-day advice on precedents and marketing materials, negotiation of contracts with external parties, employment issues and advice on disputes.
- Provision of legal support to the business, including the provision of legal advice and the instruction of external legal providers, which may include engagement with external providers of company secretarial services.
- Providing legal support and input to the business with a focus on proactively improving, simplifying or developing commercial processes, due diligence and legal productivity, including creating and streamlining template documents.
- Providing advice and counsel on a wide range of regional legal and compliance issues to other members of the legal and compliance team and the business.
**Compliance obligations**:
Work in accordance with GE HealthCare Policies and Procedures, role modeling GE HealthCare values and high ethical standards consistent with the GE HealthCare integrity requirements, including:
- Driving a strong Compliance culture within the business.
- Assisting with driving a compliance strategy which supports the achievement of business objectives within global legislative and regulatory frameworks, with emphasis on Singapore requirements, and those impacting the GE HealthCare and any subsidiary businesses.
- Complementing the Compliance team’s work with legal and compliance training where appropriate. Escalation of compliance, legislative or regulatory issues and/or concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Completing 100% of all assigned personal Compliance trainings by the required date(s).
- Exhibiting active leadership in driving Compliance across the business.
- Evaluating the strength and openness of the Compliance culture: such as facilitation & participation in round table discussions and surveys.
**Qualifications**:
- Law degree
- Current Singapore (or recognised overseas equivalent) legal practitioner’s practicing certificate (desired)
**Desired Experience**:
- At least 5-8 years’ post qualification experience in law, ideally gained in a major law firm and solid in-house environment (common law jurisdiction desired)
- Solid experience in commercial and general contract/corporate law, ideally in a healthcare setting
- Some experience in providing dispute minimisation and resolution advice
- Some experience in providing strategic advice to senior management on technical issues and compliance matters
