DESIGNATION : Prospect Analyst, Office of Advancement
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Using research techniques to provide high-level research on individuals, alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations via a wide variety of biographical, organisational and financial sources, including online databases, Internet websites, library and government sources and other external repositories of public information to identify prospects
- Analyse and synthesize accumulated information to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity and linkages to SMU through the analysis and clarification of complex information
- Extract and communicate key information which directs cultivation and solicitation strategies
- Maintain active awareness of the important news and events related to philanthropy, which will support the advancement function
- Key liaison for advancement-related matters on naming and endowment matching with the MOE naming team and the Advancement team
- Manage the relationships with the naming team at MOE to facilitate the clearance process for all naming approvals
- Guide the advancement team on MOE guidelines and systematically track all naming proposals to ensure timeliness of submission and necessary follow-ups
- Manage the master list of proposals and prepare the annual MOE naming stocktake with the database and gift admin team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, Economics or related quantitative, critical-thinking field with minimum 5 years of working experience
- Creative and critical thinker - able to gather, infer and synthesize information from multiple sources systematically and coherently
- Strong, detail-oriented, multitasking skills, with the capacity to handle multiple projects and support a variety of personnel
- Good stakeholder management and interpersonal skills to effectively interact and manage both internal and external parties
- Ability to find solutions and navigate the nuances and interpretations of external policies and internal guidelines to support advancement work
- Excellent quantitative/analytical skills
- Exceptional communication skills including writing and editing abilities
- Knowledge of macroeconomics and statistics preferred
- Experience working with large, complex databases preferred
- Good command of Mandarin for communication with Mandarin speaking clients is a plus
