Senior Production Manager

**Job Purpose
This role is part of technical production capabilities for Festivals organised by AHL. As a Senior Production Manager (Festivals), you work in close collaboration with the Director (D), Deputy Director (DD), and Senior Producers/Producers/Programmers (Program ICs) to manage all Festival production aspects of the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) and the Singapore Writers Festival (SWF), or as required.

**Responsibilities**:

- **
- Project Assessment:
- Assess the production needs of the Festival with Program ICs, including review of technical riders or design plans received. To assess feasibility of staging selected productions and make recommendations.
- Prepare budgets relating to production requirements, in particular for SIFA Commissions and new works requiring greater in-house production involvement or specialist support
- For SWF, to review and prepare tender criteria for appointing an Event Management Company (EMC) in relation to physical/online/hybrid programmes and be the main point of contact for the EMC to ensure tender requirements are met.
- Advice on suitability of venues to correspond with production needs, including sourcing and negotiating for venues, assessment of venue inventory and external inventory required.
- Review venue and programming contracts together with Program ICs
- Team Management:
- To be the reporting officer in charge of a production team that oversees all production needs for the festival.
- Allocating manpower resources, such as to hire, contract and manage full-time/part-time Production/Technical staff including Technical Managers, Production Managers, Stage Managers, Production Assistants and Coordinators based on needs of the Festival.
- Ensure that Manpower contracts and budgets are managed efficiently and timely.
- Liaise with venue production personnel.
- Production Scheduling and Management:
- Prepare and manage overall and production-specific production timelines from initiation to completion of the festival.
- Facilitating production meetings between the festival and companies/artists; arrange and attend all pre-production meetings, and discussions between Festival Director, Program ICs, Production Team, and Visiting Artist Production team
- Arrange and organize all pre-production venue recces.
- Create load-in and strike schedules, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting the daily schedules during the festival.
- Create and manage all other Festival’s production schedule and ensure efficient operations.
- Manage the building of sets and props where required.
- Supervise the work and manage production crew, technicians, external contractors for Festival productions throughout the production period in close collaboration with AHL Festival personnel and venue representatives.
- Work with appointed EMC to deliver technical requirements of the festival according to schedule, if required
- Production Budgets and Procurement:
- Prepare, manage and regular monitor the production budget together with the D, DD or the Program IC
- Source/acquire and negotiate cost-effective production equipment rentals and purchases.
- Liaise with relevant authorities and ensure all necessary approvals and licenses are obtained
- Coordinate all Festival logistics, including international freight if required.
- Organise post-festival archival of production documents.
- Adhere to AHL’s procurement policies and practices.

- Participate in meetings where required, including the Festival AAR
- Report on production matters, including production budget report.
- Ensure production team adhere to all policies and procedures of AHL.
- Plan for and ensure the safety of all crew during the festival, and that safety standards are adhered to
- Other relevant duties as required.

**_Qualifications
- **
- 1. _Educational qualifications- A tertiary qualification from a recognized institution in Technical Theatre, stage management, or equivalent professional experience in Technical Theatre.
- 2. Experience & Skills- Minimal 8 years of working experience in the capacity as a Technical / Production Coordinator
- Relevant experience in the performing arts sector is preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting is also an asset.
- Able to work Irregular working hours and “hands-on” work may be necessary.
