Regional Environment and Quality Engineer

**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Director, Environment & Quality, Li-Cycle (Corporate) - the Environmental and Quality (E&Q) Engineer will be responsible for driving sustainable implementation and oversight of environmental (performance) and quality (process, product and management systems) requirements in our Li-Cycle HUB Facilities in APAC.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Support the development and implementation of key environmental and quality programs and action plans to ensure compliant and sustainable operations.
- Provide necessary training, leadership, organization, and control to meet the company's environmental and quality performance goals.
- Assist in integrating Li-Cycle’s HSEQ management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001) into ongoing operations.
- Oversee programs for periodic inspections, documentation, and response to corrective actions for workplace environmental and quality requirements.
- Assist in conducting incident investigations as necessary, including coaching and support for root cause analysis, and tracking corrective actions to completion.
- Coordinate procedures for pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental management, conservation of resources and renewal energy.
- Drive environmental compliance enhancements for the operations as well as establish a compliance and quality driven culture.
- During the preliminary years, function as the frontline technical support/lead in the operationalization of the environmental permitting initiatives for operating facilities and then driving the sustainable maintenance of compliance for the operations accordingly, in that smoothly managing interfacing with the relevant Regulatory Bodies with appreciation and understanding of the dynamics of a major capital project’s evolutionary pathway. This also includes providing support/coordination with the on operationalization of the regulatory permits/plans.
- As needed, act as an engineering/technical resource in environmental incident management and mitigation processes.
- Act as an internal resource responsible for training on the operationalization of environmental permits, quality mandates at the facility/frontline level.
- Contribute to the development of environmental, quality and sustainability metrics for the Organization.
- The incumbent will also work on any additional projects and duties as needed.
**Job Qualifications**:
- Degree in Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering with minimum of 6 years experience.
- Strong core chemical/process engineering competencies, including mass & energy balance development, chemical reaction engineering/design, and process equipment sizing experience.
- Undergoing Certification as a Professional Engineer and appropriate certifications for Quality and Environmental Compliance, if not - the willingness to work towards obtaining these certifications.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with experience in dealing with regulatory bodies will be an asset.
- Data Analytical Skills, and aptitude to develop in this space as a professional/ practitioner.
- Experience in developing and implementing environmental and quality programs and monitoring performance.
- Operational understanding of key elements of ISO management system standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001). Understand and have working knowledge of relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local environmental rules and regulations.
- Experience assessing training needs, creating training materials to fulfill those needs, and then delivering the training.
- Experience in investigating environmental and quality incidents; working with a team to achieve perspective from various sources for root causes; reporting and following corrective action(s) to completion. Corrective Actions shall be such that eliminate a recurrence of the incident.
- Positive attitude with a focus on continuous learning.
- A valid driver’s license is necessary for this role.
