Ittf Sport Technical Manager

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), founded in 1926, is the world-governing body of the sport of table tennis with 227 member Associations in the world. The ITTF supervises the staging of World Championships annually, and several other world title events. Around 120 international tournaments are sanctioned by the ITTF yearly. Its main function is to govern and develop the sport for the benefit of over thirty million competitive players in all parts of the world.

Table Tennis is an Olympic and Paralympic sport and is in the programme of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as of all Multisport Games.

The ITTF is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Sport Technical Manager who is familiar with the technical aspect of, keen to professionalise table tennis and will be responsible for the spectrum of operational tasks and projects under the ITTF Tournaments & Regulations department.

LOCATION: The position will be based in the ITTF Asia-Pacific offices in Singapore.

MANAGER : The ITTF Sport Technical Manager will report to the ITTF Deputy Secretary General.

DUTIES:

- Work in partnership with the ITTF Deputy Secretary General and other ITTF Group Staff to develop a holistic strategy on sport technical matters related to ITTF World Title & Other Events, Olympic & Paralympic Games.
- Identify creative and innovative ideas to improve the above-mentioned properties from a sport technical perspective.
- Assist with developing clear, fair and easy qualification pathways for the major properties (World Title Events, Olympic & Paralympic Games).
- Oversee and implement the Olympic & Paralympic qualification from publication of documents, production of qualifiers lists, relevant communication with NOC/NPC and maintaining all sport information up to date.
- Oversee and implement the World Title Events qualification from publication of documents, production of qualifiers lists, relevant communication with MAs and maintaining all sport information up to date.
- Assist in all work related with the WTTC Project Management; liaising with Continental Federations on the development of pathways as well as implementation of these Events.
- Assist in ensuring the ITTF Handbook sport related rules and regulations are always up to the latest standards and implementations.
- Work closely with the the ITTF Technical Commissioner in developing sport specific documents around rules, regulations, playing systems and other technical matters.
- Manage constitutional procedures related to Events i.e. Players registration, eligibility etc.
- Assist with coordination of the ITTF Group Calendar, ensuring proper scheduling of ITTF and ITTF Family Events.
- Facilitate development of innovations and ensure there is alignment with the rules and regulations i.e. TTR.
- Assist with managing bidding processes, hosting agreements and Event implementation for ITTF properties.
- Facilitate the implementation of the Anti-Doping program at ITTF or ITTF Family events, where applicable.
- Work closely with ITTF Group Staff from different departments for the successful planning and delivery of events.
- Other tasks as requested by the Line Manager or the ITTF Group CEO.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential Criteria
- Relevant tertiary education in Sports Management;
- Experience working within sport competition management;
- Experience working within table tennis or other racket sports;
- Experience in managing projects;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Organizational skills and ability to work with people from different nations and backgrounds;
- Readiness to work irregular and long hours during events;
- Sound Microsoft Office and computer skills.

Desirable Criteria
- Professional capacity to work in multiple languages, in particular English. Other languages like Chinese, French, Spanish etc will be considered a plus.
- Experience within the sport of Table Tennis.
